Who We Are

We are simply believers in the Lord Jesus Christ who celebrate the fact that we have been saved only by God’s grace through faith alone in Jesus who died for our sins, was buried, was resurrected and is alive today.  We believe in the importance of Biblical teaching and are growing in our faith and in our love for each other.  We want all people to hear the gospel and to become believers in Jesus.  We welcome you to come and meet with us.

Our Story

Our story began in 2007 when a group of believers dedicated to the Word of God began to assemble together to worship and study the Bible in a local event center in Jasper.  These believers decided to organize into a church under the leadership of Pastor Doug McBride.  They chose the name of the new church to be Faith Bible Church (FBC).

FBC was grateful to assemble in the event center but, over time, it became apparent that a building was needed to better accommodate the church as it grew.  God provided a building suited to the needs of the church in 2012 when the former Cornerstone Baptist Church sold their property to FBC.  It was apparent that God was answering prayer and providing for the church as the congregation looked to Him by faith to meet needs. This property is located at 591 Calvert Street in Jasper, Texas, and is where Faith Bible Church continues to meet to the present day.

Pastor Doug and his wife Susan ministered to the church and the Jasper community until the end of 2022 when they were led by God to serve in ministry at Camp Pearl in Reeves, Louisiana.  In January of 2023 the church chose to ask Darrel Patterson, an elder at FBC, to take the role of pastor.  Darrel has served as pastor from that time until the present.  His wife Amanda is an active servant in the church ministering in various capacities.  FBC is an elder led congregation and Darrel serves in that capacity alongside Jim Burdett, an elder since 2022.

Our story is not over.  We constantly seek God’s will for this church as we commit to worship together, to fellowship with one another, and to study the Bible and apply it to our daily lives.  We believe that God wants to use FBC to impact the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ and we support missionary outreach for His glory.

What to Expect

We are a smaller church that sincerely welcomes visitors.  You can enjoy a cup of coffee and a snack before the service while the friendly people at FBC make you feel at home. We dress comfortably and are just regular folks.

Sunday School

You have the opportunity to come for Sunday school for adults and for children at 9:45 on Sunday mornings followed by the main worship service at 10:50. Please feel free to keep your children with you during Sunday school if you want to. People of all ages are encouraged to worship together during the worship service so the children stay with the adults during this time.

Worship

You can expect heartfelt singing during the worship service, a time of prayer, and an expositional sermon that is faithful to Scripture. You shouldn’t expect pressure to put money in the offering. We don’t even pass offering plates. Instead there is a box at the back of the auditorium where members place their offerings before or after the service if they choose to do so.

Bible Study

You can also anticipate meeting together on Wednesday nights for prayer and Bible study. This is an informal time of study and interaction with God’s Word in which we value the input of each other as we discuss what God is teaching us. No childcare is provided during this service and children are welcome to be with the adults.

Fellowship

You can get to know us better by taking advantage of the fellowship meals that are offered after the worship service on the first Sunday of each month. You will be able to fellowship with others as you share this meal together with us. Members usually bring a dish to share with others so there is always plenty of food there.

Fun

Another fun time together is Game Night. We usually get together the last Saturday of each month at 6:00pm and play games together and of course eat a few snacks. These are fun nights for the whole family. You can bring your kids and your favorite games and join in on the fun. For times and dates for fellowship meals, game nights, and other FBC events see the church calendar.
